CJCians celebrating the journey undertaken together as a cohort
Catholic Junior College (CJC) gives thanks to God for our students’ strong showing at the 2025 GCE A-Level examinations and we congratulate them for the good distinction rates across different subjects. Our CJCians’ academic achievements reflect the grit and resolve in pursuit of their goals, and they are well placed to qualify for reputable local and overseas institutes of higher learning and being one step closer to their dreams.
Mrs Woo Soo Min, Principal of CJC, congratulates the Class of 2025 and said, “I am very proud of the CJCians from the Class of 2025. As the 50th batch of CJCians, they led their juniors in organising the CJ50 celebrations, all college events and CCAs, bringing about a very positive schooling experience to their peers, and raising the college spirit to a new high. At the same time, they have given the best of themselves in embracing learning and the results that they reaped bear testimony to their efforts. I am confident that CJCIans will continue to illuminate the way for others as they scale new heights.”
Celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2025, Mr Tan Jek Suan, Vice-Principal (Student Development), said, “the future presents immense possibilities for you. I encourage you to cherish all the experiences that you have had, to remain curious, and be passionate in all your endeavours. Continue to create meaningful connections with those whom you meet, especially with fellow CJCians of our CJ family. I am confident that you will continue to shine wherever you are. Not only have you done well, your contributions to the legacy of the CJC community are immeasurable.”
The college would like to thank our dedicated teachers, administrative staff, parents, the School Management Committee (SMC) and alumni for supporting the Class of 2025 throughout their A-Level journey. We, as a CJ family, have always valued holistic development, building generations of thinkers and leaders in the last 50 years and more untold.
CJCians celebrating the journey undertaken together as a cohort
With thanksgiving in our hearts, we affirm and celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of every CJCian who exemplifies the qualities of a Thinker with a Mission and Leader with a Heart. May God continue to bless the Class of 2025 with grace and wisdom as they take flight and soar!

All my teachers always saw the hope in me and never made me feel discouraged whenever I fumbled certain subjects’ papers. I’m glad to have a great support system here in CJC and I will always be thankful for everyone I have met.”
TAN JUN KAI
Jun Kai’s journey at Catholic Junior College is marked by his intellectual curiosity and independence as a learner. His willingness to challenge himself intellectually led him to participate in events such as the Physics Olympiad and STEMazing competition, a digital video contest focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This commitment to excel was further reflected by his consistent placement on the Principal’s Honour Roll.
His concern for others extended beyond the school environment. Through a service learning project with SG Cares Volunteer Centre, he helped to create inclusive experiences for children from low-income families and the elderly at the Bedok Sports Carnival.
“I want to show my gratitude to Ms Valarie Chia for being a caring Home tutor and amazing Chemistry teacher, and for encouraging me to take up opportunities to develop myself; Ms Chia Shing Li for keeping lessons interesting and informative, and for giving us many tips and advice for Math Examinations; Mr Chong for using interactive tools to increase our understanding and for taking time to help us individually in Physics; Ms Chew for asking us to make our own presentations so that we better understand the GP concepts we are interested in and for being very nice and understanding towards us; Mr Thong for making lessons very fun, for encouraging us to stay alert during class and for giving us a mental break before starting Econs; and Ms Mages for leading the class in PW and providing guidance and consults when we needed them.”
NG ZHI KANG JOSHUA
Joshua is a reflective and committed learner who consistently demonstrates a strong sense of commitment in his academic pursuits. His achievement of the JC1 Subject Prize Award for H2 Economics and the Edusave Merit Bursary attests to his dedication to academic excellence through consistent efforts to refine his capabilities.
His active involvement in the Oratorical Society is reflected by his participation in the CJC Model United Nations 2025 as the Vice-Chairman of the World Health Organisation council, where he showcased his adaptability, leadership, and ability to navigate complex, unprecedented challenges with composure.
“I am grateful to my family for supporting me through my A-Level Journey such as driving me to school, cooking meals for me and helping me to destress through games. I am also glad to have made friends that are some of the most empathetic people I have met that helped me with both my studies and emotional well-being. Last but not least I am thankful for my teachers: my Home Tutor, Mr Pang for keeping us on the right track in our studies, Mr Wong for working hard to provide numerous resources that suits our Economics journey and being a listening ear, Mr Zach for being open to any questions about Physics, Mrs Tie for keeping Chemistry fun, and lastly Mr Tan and Ms Rai for their constant encouragement and as well as advice about how to succeed in General Paper and in life.”
ROXANNE NEO YU XUAN
Roxanne is a well-liked student who demonstrated adeptness in many aspects of JC life. Her willingness to learn and excel in her academics was reflected in her outstanding performance in lessons, where she offered valuable insights on complex subjects, as well as in her H3 History research.
Roxanne showed her willingness to take initiative as she enthusiastically participated in events like the Tran Phu-Hoan Kiem High School - Catholic Junior College Exchange Programme where she hosted Vietnamese students and patiently taught them about Singaporean culture, fostering meaningful cross-cultural dialogue.
“I would like to thank Mr Alex Tan especially for giving us the opportunity to pursue H3, and patiently refining my H2 and H3 history answers, and filling up my UCAS reference for university admissions in the UK. He and Ms Janice really worked tirelessly to organise group study sessions, tailored consultations and concise notes throughout JC which majorly boosted my confidence to score in history and also CJC’s overall history distinction rates!”
OSCAR TIONG FOO XIANG
Oscar is a consistent and accountable learner who demonstrates strong critical thinking skills. His ability to learn from past mistakes and make appropriate adjustments has contributed to his academic growth.
As President of the First Aid Club, Oscar has shown remarkable leadership abilities. He has shown his leadership abilities through facilitating Executive Committee discussions and ensuring all the First Aid members were included in the many events organised, such as Orientation and Post-Promotional Examination Games.
“I personally believe that having the right mindset is crucial to doing well. You have to believe that you have the capacity to do well. Of course, I also had moments where I was disappointed with how I performed in a test, and it certainly is normal to feel sad when you do not perform up to your expectations. However, there is no changing the past. I would encourage students to see failures simply as a learning opportunity such that they can perform better in future exams. It is important to remember that improvements are not always linear and observable and to not be deterred when you meet an obstacle.”
GAN YANG LE
Yang Le demonstrated resilience and determination in adapting to the demands of the JC curriculum, making significant academic progress over the two years. Her efforts were recognised through the Edusave Certificate of Academic Achievement and the Edusave Good Progress Award. She also developed a strong interest in Geography, particularly in understanding global phenomena beyond her immediate society.
As a member of the Guzheng Ensemble, Yang Le showed strong dedication by mastering the instrument within a year despite having no prior experience. Her perseverance contributed to the ensemble attaining a Certificate of Distinction at the 2025 Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation.
In an interview, Yang Le expressed sincere appreciation for her Economics and Home Tutor, Ms Serena Soh, for her unwavering support throughout her time in junior college. She shared that Ms Soh consistently went the extra mile to prepare additional materials and conduct extra sessions to strengthen students’ understanding, even organising boot camps before major assessments. Yang Le credits her guidance and encouragement as a key source of motivation in her learning journey.
CLAIRE TAN
Claire works hard and has improved tremendously in her studies since she started her journey in CJC. Apart from academics, Claire has demonstrated exceptionally good leadership skills. Positioned the Vice-president of the Catholic Activities wing in the Students’ Council, she contributed to the organisation and execution of events like Racial Harmony Day among others. To acknowledge her leadership and commitment, she was awarded the Flame Scholarship.
Claire also has quite a vibrant service-learning journey, showcasing her willingness to serve and sincerity in her nature. In school, she organised a crochet project, “A Stitch in Time”, during the CJC 50th Anniversary Food and Fun Fair to raise funds for the college. Her exemplary contributions go beyond the college. She has also organised Project Eclairer, which reached out to elderly NTUC Geylang East Nursing Home through baking sessions. Through the Overseas Service Learning Programme to Phnom Penh, which focused on English lessons and Science experiments for high school students, she had a deeper understanding of human dignity and service to the community.
“I think what worked best for me was following a well-thought out study schedule. There’s really no point in studying 10 hours a day without planning it through carefully; your time is precious! Spend some time making a schedule dedicating 2-3 hours to each subject every day with sufficient breaks, and follow this schedule religiously especially during study breaks!”
WANG NUO
Serving as the Executive Committee Administrator of the 50th Student Council has left a remarkable impact on Wang Nuo, both in terms of leadership and self-discovery. In this role, she demonstrated strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail, overseeing morning assemblies, allocating personalised reflections and prayers, training and executing morning assemblies, and coordinating special assemblies and events while liaising effectively with teachers and various student leader groups.
Wang Nuo has developed a strong academic disposition through her analytical skills and has consistently shown the ability to apply her content understanding to the world around her. Her passion for History was especially evident in her insightful perspectives and active participation in class discussions. Through these experiences, Wang Nuo grew both as a leader and as an individual, learning that change is the only constant and that the beauty of metamorphosing is to become comfortable in the unfamiliar, seeking her own rhythm instead of chasing someone else's tempo.
“The people you journey with often shape you as much as the journey itself.”

His work with AWWA and his thoughtful engagement with inclusive practices demonstrate a maturity that goes beyond the classroom.
Additionally, in terms of his academics, he has commented that he prioritises “Quality over quantity”. In regards to his lifestyle during the two years in Junior College, he stated, “In J1 I would sacrifice sleep to study more. But in J2 I changed my lifestyle so I would have a minimum of 7.5 hours and that enabled me to focus better in class and memorise more efficiently! Beyond sleep, I found it helpful to revise consistently rather than cram, summarise concepts in my own words, and actively test myself through practice papers. Balance is also important - make time for activities and friendships that energise you. Sustainable habits, not last-minute bursts of effort, are what carry you through the A Levels.”
WONG ZI JIAN SAMUEL
Samuel is an inquisitive and intellectual individual who finds immense pleasure in learning. His passion for History is remarkable and he would go on to offer History at the H3 level, demonstrating his academic prowess. His academic abilities were further recognised when he was offered the Best Academic Award (Arts) in JC.
“I found that my teachers often proved to be well-suited to meet my learning needs, which varied between subjects. So for example, my math teacher would often leave me to practise during our class tutorial, allowing me to conduct my practice in favourable conditions; this differed from my economics teacher who usually was active in posing us questions that forced us to think which I found favourable to my learning needs.”
CRISTIAN SCOTT CHUM
Throughout Cristian’s academic journey, he showed steady growth in self-discipline, resilience and intellectual maturity. He made meaningful contributions through leadership and service. As Home Tutorial Councillor, he led his class in preparing their CJ50 booth and leveraged his strong interpersonal skills to strengthen ties with their buddy class, fostering collaboration and embodying the college spirit. He was part of the Overseas Service-Learning Programme (OSLP) to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where he served as Head of Logistics. Through this role, Cristian discovered his strength in working behind the scenes. He noted that he thrives when ensuring operations run smoothly, showing maturity and a deep sense of duty. His most meaningful takeaway from this experience was the realisation of the vast diversity of life experiences around the world. It reminded him of the need for empathy and groundedness, and a deeper understanding of our shared humanity.
“Have fun in J2; have fun in class even though it might seem like a lot to juggle. I myself worked hard throughout JC but I can promise that the busiest of student lives are often the most fulfilling ones.”
XUE KEMING
Keming is an inquisitive student who exemplifies the spirit of active
learning by participating eagerly and raising thoughtful questions during
class discussions. A member of CJC’s Fencing Team, Keming displayed extraordinary
mental fortitude and athletic prowess. In the face of high stakes, he competed
against a national fencer and maintained remarkable composure. This mindset
eventually led to him clinching the top 8 in Men’s Sabre at the 2024 National
School Games (NSG) ‘A’ Division.
“I would like to show gratitude towards my PE teacher Mr Loh. Throughout most of my JC life, I often visited the school gym before the start of the school day and he was always there to make conversation. He often encouraged me and congratulated me for my hard work both in the gym and academically. His words of support kept me going and helped me stay consistent through my JC life. I am very grateful for his help.”
