51st Anniversary College Day Annual Awards Presentation Ceremony
This year's College Day, themed "From Heritage to Horizon", was a celebration that looked both inward and forward — honouring fifty years of legacy while embracing the promise of what lies ahead, including CJC's upcoming move to the Punggol Digital District.
In her address, our Principal, Mrs Woo, celebrated the year's achievements — from medalists at the Singapore Biology, Chemistry, and International Mathematical Modelling competitions, to athletes who showed extraordinary grit on the track and in the pool, to students whose service-learning projects tackled real-world challenges like textile waste — a testament to a college community that truly embodies the call to act with justice, love tenderly, and serve one another. It is this same spirit, she noted, that will carry CJC forward into its next chapter at the Punggol Digital District.
The ceremony was graced by Guest of Honour Mr Leo Yip, retired Head of the Civil Service and proud CJC alumnus from the Class of 1981, whose presence was a fitting reminder of the enduring impact a CJC education carries beyond the college gates. In his speech, he spoke of the importance of being rooted in one's purpose — a message that found its echo in the stories of the students honoured on the day.
The programme celebrated the achievements of staff and students alike. Among them was Claire Tan, recipient of the Dr Ee Peng Liang Memorial Award whose academic excellence, leadership of the Catholic Activities Wing, and deep commitment to the spiritual life of the college embodied the very best of what CJC seeks to nurture. Sophie O'Hara, outgoing Student Council President and recipient of the Mr Bernard Chen Memorial Award, was recognised for her outstanding service to the college community — her cheerful spirit and tireless efforts in bringing the college together during CJC's landmark 50th anniversary year leaving a mark that will be felt long after graduation.
The 51st Anniversary College Day Annual Awards Presentation Ceremony was a reminder that while chapters may change, the spirit of CJC endures — carried forward by every student, staff member, and alumnus who has called this college home.
