Celebrating SG61 with the Punggol community
Catholic Junior College staff and students joined residents from Punggol in a qigong exercise while celebrating Singapore's 61st National Day on the morning of 7 August, as part of the college's National Day commemoration and outreach to the Punggol community.
We were privileged to welcome Deputy Prime Minister (DPM), Minister for Trade and Industry (Trade) and Grassroots Adviser, Punggol North, Mr Gan Kim Yong as our Guest of Honour, who delivered inspiring opening remarks about our shared future. DPM Gan welcomed CJC and said that he “looked forward to the CJC’s community activities and engagement in the Punggol district.”
Mr Bernard Tan, Chairman of CJC’s School Management Committee, also announced the launch of CJC’s fundraising campaign for the new campus. He said he “hopes that CJC alumni, parents, friends and partners will join us in generously contributing to building a vibrant campus to serve all Singaporeans.”
Officiated by our Principal, Mrs Woo Soo Min, this year’s celebration was an unforgettable one as CJC enjoyed a morning qigong session led by more than a hundred local Punggol seniors from the Qigong Shi Ba Shi Association. Mrs Woo shared that she looks forward to CJC being more involved and integrated with the community in Punggol.
The celebrations concluded with a vibrant and energetic singalong, featuring National Day hits both new and old, creating anticipation for the warmth and camaraderie that our CJC family will bring to our new community. Here’s to our new beginning in Punggol!
